Clinical Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: ACT/ACT+

BROAD FUNCTION:

The ACT/ACT+ Clinical Supervisor is a clinician with a good command of the treatment, support and rehabilitation needs of adults with severe and persistent mental illness, including those who have co-occurring substance use disorders. S/he has experience delivering community-based treatment, support and rehabilitation services and supervising other direct service staff. The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for providing side-by-side field supervision to team members and for providing documented, routine reviews of clinical records for content and timeliness and clinical appropriateness.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides clinical supervision and direction to an assigned group of professional and paraprofessional staff.

With the Team Leaders and Program Director, monitors and ensures program compliance with Medicaid and other applicable accreditation and licensure standards.

Completes the intake packet for all new consumer admissions which includes but is not limited to: face sheet, initial recovery plan, crisis plan, consents and biopsychosocial assessment. Refers consumer to the Team Leader for case management assignment.

Schedules and attends all recovery plan meetings, providing on-the-spot direction and clinical supervision to staff.

Attends consumer care meetings to ensure that consumers have maximum input into their treatment plans and that any grievances are addressed.

Assists the Team Leaders in managing the implementation of assessments and treatment plans in accordance with the internal policies and procedures, including the provision of documented side-by-side field supervision for each team member at least once per quarter.

Ensures that program staff has completed all documentation required in the clinical records by completing a review of each enrolled participant’s clinical record every 60 days on a form approved for that purpose.

With the Team Leaders and Program Director, assures that all program staff is aware of policy memo guidelines issued by the Department of Health and Social Services, including those related to patient abuse and HIV transmission.

Assures that the Team Leaders, Masters Level Clinicians, Program Director and the ACT/ACT+ Prescribers are kept up to date about all relevant staff and consumer issues.

Attends all treatment team and daily meetings, providing on-the-spot direction and clinical supervision to staff.

In the absence of the Team Leader(s), assumes that leadership role.

Rotates on call responsibilities as assigned and responds to crisis and other calls in accordance with program directives.

Trains new staff in the writing of clinical documentation including approving documentation for first three month of new staff’s tenure.

Performs group, individual and family interventions as assigned.

Performs other duties as requested or assigned, verbally or in writing.

SCOPE, PURPOSE AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:

Daily contact with consumers.

Frequent contact with consumers’ families.

Frequent contact with agency staff in all departments.

Regular contact with outside agencies (such as DSAMH, Promise, Delaware Psychiatric Center, Social Security Administration, medical doctors).

Occasional contact with criminal justice system employees.

Regular representation in Clinical Care meetings.

DIRECTION/SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:

Supervision of staff obtaining licensure and interns in clinical internship, as assigned

Program Director

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Doctoral or Master’s Degree in psychology, mental health counseling, clinical social work, or rehabilitation, or from an accredited college or university.

Three years’ experience providing treatment and rehabilitation services to adults with severe and persistent mental illness including those with co-occurring substance use disorders and/or physical disabilities.

Supervisory training/experience a plus.

clinical licensure (LPCMH or LCSW) in the state of DE

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Demonstrated ability to provide clinical supervision.

Ability to conduct psychoeducational therapy.

Ability to conduct behavior therapy.

Ability to conduct symptom education and education for self-management.

Ability to conduct addictions treatment.

Ability to conduct vocational assessment and therapy.

Ability to conduct social skills training.

Ability to conduct daily living skills training.

Ability to provide supportive counseling and case management.

Ability to provide and direct services that are relevant and competent in relation to the age, gender, race and ethnicity of the persons served.

Knowledge of structured interviewing for completing rating scales, diagnostic interviews, mental status examinations, Social Security disability reports, etc.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

CPR and first aid certification

MANDT training

Clinical Supervision training

LLAM training

Valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
