Mental Health Resident Manager

Founded in 1985 as a subsidiary of the organization then known as Church Home Foundation, Conexio’s original mission was to help older adults with lifelong histories of psychiatric hospitalization to transition into the community. Our mission expanded in 1988 to include homeless services and substance abuse treatment.

Today, Conexio Care serves as one of Delaware’s largest nonprofits, collaborating with government, community, corporate, and other philanthropic partners to maximize services for our state’s most vulnerable citizens.

  1. POSITION STATEMENT: The Residence Manager I has administrative experience and a good command of the treatment, support and rehabilitation needs of adults with mental health, substance abuse, cognitive disabilities and debilitating medical conditions. The Residence Manger I is responsible for the administrative and personal care management of a licensed group home with no more than ten residents, including the hiring, scheduling and supervision of residence staff and the coordination of residential, psychosocial rehab and personal care services.

  1. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB AND ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:

  • Direct Duties:
    • Schedules and supervises group home staff. Ensures that all group home staff understand and carry out agency policy.
    • Monitors and ensures program compliance for one of the following:
      • Rules and Regulations for State Licensed Group Homes for Persons with Mental Illness, or
    • Ensures that staff receive training and understand Agency policies and procedures for Group Home Services
    • Ensures that treatment and care plans for residents of the group home are carried out.
    • Ensures that program staff have completed all documentation required in the shift logs and clinical records.
    • Works in conjunction with their Director to ensure that clinical process and documentation is complete and appropriate and reflects the treatment needs of the residents.
    • Provides quality assurance by reviewing at least 20% of all clinical records per month and by signing off on all treatment plans and monthly summaries.
    • Attends weekly treatment team meetings, monthly general staff meetings and attends shift report at least once per day.
    • Supervises group home program staff and provides them with monthly and quarterly feedback, and annual reviews.
    • Ensures that the environment is safe, clean and free from hazardous conditions that could adversely affect the quality of life for the residents in the facility.
    • Ensures that the program is in compliance with Drug Free Workplace requirements and other internal and external policies governing staff management.
    • Assures that all program staff are aware of Policy Memo guidelines issued by the Department of Health and Social Services, including those related to Patient Abuse (PM 46), and HIV transmission.
    • Assures that the Core Team physicians are kept up to date about all patient issues.
    • Works with community and professional groups to assure a mutually tolerant and amicable treatment environment.
    • Coordinates and schedules staff training to ensure that all staff are certified in CPR, First Aid, Medication Assistance, Annual Competencies and Patient Rights.
    • Attends administrative staff meetings and other relevant meetings as requested.
    • Creates and maintains an environment which fosters group decision making and treatment planning whereby each member is held accountable for group decisions.
    • Performs other duties as requested or assigned, verbally or in writing.

  1. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
    • Master’s degree in social work, counseling or related human service discipline or;
    • Registered Nurse, licensed in Delaware or;
    • Person with a Bachelor’s Degree and at least five years direct experience working with persons with a serious mental health condition or cognitive disabilities
    • 2 years of experience in leadership or supervisory position

    • Oral Communication: Ability to orally communicate with others, including providing direction and feedback, exchange of information and ideas, explain complex concepts and processes, utilize effective non-verbal skills, ask insightful questions, and persuade others
    • Active Listening: Ability to listen and restate back what has been said, confirming that the needs of the person served are understood. Ability to ask questions to assess needs
    • Adaptability: Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt to changes in the work environment; manage completing demands and ability to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events; and ability to work under emergency conditions, when applicable
    • Dependability: Ability to consistently report to work and on time, follow instructions, respond to management direction, and solicit feedback to improve performance
    • Time Management: Ensures that tasks/duties/activities, projects, and goals are accomplished in an accurate and timely manner
    • Attention to Detail: Ability to process detailed information effectively and consistently
    • Stress Tolerance: Recognize crisis situations and react to such in a calm, mature manner; accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with high stress situations; and the ability to identify, react to, and report security concerns
    • Ethical Decision Making: Ability to make sound judgements consistent with the Conexio Care policies, procedures, and code of ethics.

    • Maintain and abides by OSHA requirements and guidelines
    • Observes all Fire and Safety Policies and Procedures
    • Observes all Personnel Policies and Procedures
    • Observes all Agency’s Policies and Procedures
    • Observes all DDDS Regulations.
    • Observes all HIPAA Policies and Procedures and maintains confidentiality
    • Completes and returns all paperwork distributed by the Human Resource Department
    • Attends all required and scheduled trainings and meetings
    • Always maintain a professional demeanor and exercise good professional judgment in all areas of employment duties
    • Documents time worked accurately
